Obituary

Bettina Linette Stancil, known affectionately as Tyna, passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 48 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Born on June 3, 1975, in Frankfurt, Germany, Tyna brought light and joy to the lives of all who knew her.

Tyna possessed an indomitable spirit and an infectious personality. She had a passion for fashion, makeup, butterflies, jewelry and all things bubble gum pink. Even after losing her eyesight, Tyna never let it hinder her determination to live life to the fullest. She firmly believed that she could do anything a person with sight could do, and perhaps even better. Her unwavering resolve served as an inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Tyna's positive outlook on life and her ability to find a way in every situation will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tyna's faith in the Bible was unwavering, and she took solace in its promises. She often engaged in conversations about the Bible with anyone willing to listen. One promise that brought her great comfort was found in Acts 24:15, which speaks of the resurrection. Tyna eagerly awaited the day when her sight would be restored, as Isaiah 35:5 assures that "the eyes of the blind will be opened." She yearned to see the faces of her loved ones and witness the world she had imagined in her mind's eye.

She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Stancil.

Bettina is survived by her mother, Betty L. Stancil, her son Jonathan O. Scott, both of Milford, Virginia, as well as her sister, Doretta L. Stancil of Ruther Glen, Virginia and her brother, John L. Stancil of Milford, Virginia, as well as a host of family and friends.

In honoring the memory of Bettina "Tyna" Stancil, let us remember her infectious spirit, her unwavering faith, and her ability to overcome any obstacle. May her memory live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her remarkable presence.
