Bessie Douglas Jeter was born February 28, 1929, the sixth of thirteen siblings to the late Fannie and Grover Johnson of King and Queen County, Va.  She departed this life peacefully on Thursday November 5, 2020 at her residence.

Bessie joined the First Mount Olive Baptist Church in Newtown, Virginia at an early age where she attended faithfully until her health began to fail. She was employed at Keller's in Milford, Va. for many years.

She leaves to cherish many memories, a daughter, Margorie Holmes (Johnny); two sons; Robert Douglas (Maxine) and Lewis Berry; brother, Galveston Johnson (Carolyn); three sisters, Annie Johnson, Francis Davis and Caroline Robinson; eighteen grandchildren; forty two great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, LaVerne Berry; brother-in-law ,Timothy Thomas of New Jersey; twenty six nieces and nephews; and many great great nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.

A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday November 12, 2020 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday November 13, 2020 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427

Interment will follow at First Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery,. 7820 Newtown Road, Newtown Virginia 23126
