Obituary

Bernice "Niecee" Elizabeth Monroe Smith was born to the late David and Eliza Ann Monroe on September 23, 1941 in Caroline County, Virginia. Bernice quietly answered God's call on Monday, August 19, 2013 at her home in Stafford, Virginia.

She was educated in Caroline County public Schools and graduated from Union High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church.

During the course of her life, she lived in several different states. Wherever she lived, she would find a new church home to worship and continue her work for the Lord. She loved softball and was a member of Mary Adams' All Star Team "The Hornets" for several years. She was also an avid bowler and won many trophies.

Later in life, she became a daycare provider to many children until her health failed. She was godmother to four children, Celina, Kellan, Seven and Aminata. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Eliza Ann Monroe; two brothers, Richard Gallery and Davie Monroe; one sister, Mary Washington; one niece, three nephews and two great-great nephews.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Robin Myers of Washington, DC; three brothers, Charles "Len" Monroe (Mary) of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Robert "Cadillac" Monroe (Shirley) if Milford, Virginia and Lloyd "Pig" Monroe of Richmond, Virginia; eight nephews, seven nieces, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, no sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Rev. 24:4
