Bernard Larry "Huckabuck" Samuel was born on December 22, 1948 to the late Cora Samuel and Glover Samuel. After the passing of his father, he was then cared for by Eddie and Cora Samuel Monroe. He attended and graduated from Union High School.
At an early age, he dedicated his life to Christ at St. John Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia. At the age of 22, he joined the United States Army. Bernard served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. After the war, he worked with William A. Hazel as a concrete finisher from 1977 until 2008. Bernard was known for always having his hand in many buckets; landscaping and fishing were some of the many hobbies he enjoyed. Bernard loved to dance and listen to music. You could always find him somewhere at a cookout or at home singing and doing his signature dance moves. His smile lit up a room and his laugh was contagious. He always showed unconditional love to everyone he knew. He was a giver and would never hesitate to give the last dollar out of his pocket.
On May 16. 2016, Bernard was called to be with the Lord at Mary Washington Hospital with his family by his side.
Bernard leaves cherished memories to his loving family members: his children, Sonya Samuel, Bernard Scott, Christopher Scott and Damian Woolfolk (Cressina); granddaughter, Daisha Lewis; his father, Eddie Monroe; wife, Jairline Samuel; six siblings, Yvonne Smith, Ernest Samuel, Sr. (Celestine), Sylvester Samuel, Patricia Walker (Larnell), Connie Gray (Rodney) and Elsa Monroe; one sister-in-law, Helen Samuel; 15 grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
