Benton Bryant "Butch" Derricott   fell asleep  in Jesus surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital, Spotsylvania, Virginia.

Benton who was affectionately called Butch was born on August 9, 1954 to the late Sylvester Lewis Derricott and Reaver Delores Derricott. He  joined  St. John Baptist Church at an early age. He attended  Caroline County Public Schools and was a graduate of the Class of 1973 of Bowling Green Senior High School.

After high school Butch attended Virginia State University and Smithdeal Massey Business College. He worked for Giant Foods in Landover, Maryland and retired after twenty five years of faithful service. Butch was a quiet unassuming person and will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

Butch was preceded in death by his father Sylvester Lewis Derricott.

He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter; Bridgette Wright (Paul Sessions); two grandsons, Paul Sessions, Jr. and Brixton Sessions of Los Angeles, California; his mother, Reaver Delores Brewington of Milford, Virginia; one sister, Reaver Derricott-Durham of Oxon Hill, Maryland; one brother, Roger Lewis Derricott of Ladysmith, Virginia; one niece, Reaver Andrews (Tyoron) and a great nephew, Tyoron (TyTy) of Bryans Road, Maryland; three aunts, Gloria Chatman, Ann Derricott and devoted, Clara Derricott along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Saint John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
