Barbara Ann Howard Foster was born in Caroline County five out of nine children to the late Emmitt Howard and Bernice Thomas Anderson.
She received her education in Caroline County Public Schools. She worked at Jarrell's Truck Plaza where she was a loyal employee for 21 years. Her focus was also domestic as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She had a very special love for all children, never turning anyone away. She was the caregiver of the family.
She received Christ at an early age and joined Jericho Baptist Church which she loved and attended faithfully. She was united in matrimony to Thomas Foster, Jr. "June" on June 1, 1962.
On Sunday, April 29, 2012 she smiled, talked, closed her eyes and peacefully went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was preceeded in death by her two sisters: Gwendolyn Fuller and Antoinette Chapman, two brothrs: Emmitt Howard and Reginald Anderson, and grandson: Lil Rick.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband of 50 years Thomas Foster, Jr "June Bug", two daughters: Towanda Foster-Brooks (Anthony) and Yolanda Hunter, both of Richmond, Virginia; two sons: Matthew Foster, Sr. (Gloria) of Richmond, Virginia and Ricky Foster of Ruther Glen, Virginia; two sisters: Charlene Johnson of Mitchellville, Maryland and Henrietta Rock (Larry) of Ruther Glen, Virginia; two brothers: Mack Wilbur Thomas (Doris) and Melvin Howard (Helen) both of Ruther Glen, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Bianca, Kelsey, Jasmine, Tiffany, Matthew Jr., Ja'wan and Ju'Siya; two great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; two uncles: Deacon Joseph Nelson and Rev. Eddie Nelson, Sr. and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Jericho Baptist Church, 8435 Jericho Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
Interment will be in the Jericho Baptist Church cemetery.
