On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, Archie Roy Edler passed away peacefully at the age of 73.
Archie was born to the late James and Virginia Edler on October 20, 1948, in Caroline County, Virginia, where he attended Union High School. Archie was raised in a large family of ten children.
Archie began his career in the U.S. Army immediately after high school. He proudly served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. He then began a long career at the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad where he worked for thirty-five years until his retirement.
Archie enjoyed being around family and friends. His hobbies included watching drag racing, playing checkers, wrestling, and lottery tickets! His greatest joy was seeing his great-grandchildren. Archie was a member of Saint John Baptist Church in Caroline County, Virginia.
Archie was preceded in death by three siblings, James Jr., Gladys Kay, and Harry.
Archie leaves cherished memories to a son, Terren Gwynn and a devoted daughter. Danielle Edler; his grandchildren: Justin, Brandon and Eboni Edler; his great-grandchildren: Malani Edler, Elionna Jackson, Nicholas Collins, and Ezekiel Jackson; his siblings: Mary Harris, Joyce Penn, and Constance Goode, twin brother, Ellis Edler, Virginia Edler, and Naomi Edler; brothers-in-law, Alvin Kay and Otis Penn and sister-in-law, Carolyn Dandridge; a devoted friend of nearly forty years, Selma Walcott; extended family which included Leslie Randolph, Sydney Allen, Chase and Dash Randolph, and Aarish Allen and a host of other family and friends.
A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia 22172
