Obituary

Antonia Lee Saunders, affectionally known as "Tony" by his family and "Red" by others departed this life on August 6, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Tony was the second son of the late Lloyd Lee Saunders and his devoted mother Mrs. Lucy Mae Smith Saunders of Woodford, Virginia.

Tony joined Beulah Baptist Church at an early age. He was a very soft spoken individual; however, he always carried a willing and giving personality, Tony devoted his life to his son, Antonia Perrin and his God son, Johnelle Perrin.

Tony held numerous laborer positions in the surrounding area. He graduated from Caroline High School in the year of 1978 and attended J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia.

Tony was preceded in death his older brother, Gary Ellis Smith; loving maternal grandparents, the late James Harding Smith and Lillian Ora Smith; paternal grandparents Henry Saunders and Lucille Saunders and his uncle Louis Smith.

He leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted mother, Lucy Mae Saunders of Woodford; three loving and devoted siblings, Stephanie Taylor-Saunders, Troy and Lamonte Saunders all of Woodford, Virginia; three grandchildren, three nephews, two special nieces, one uncle James Saunders, three aunts Yvonne Smith, Deloris Beverly and Roberta Lewis; a special friend, Connie Perrin of Fredericksburg, Virginia and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly. The community of Cedon will truly miss his affectionate smile as he always tilted his head.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 13 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service on Friday at the church.

A homegoing celebration will be held at noon on Friday, August 14 at Beulah Baptist Church, 5216 Arcadia Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with Rev. L. Nolan Fox delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
