Obituary

Annie Mae Wright, 91, was born on May 1, 1929 to Annie Washington and Raymond Washington in Balty, Caroline County, Virginia. She attended  Caroline County Public School system and was a resident of Caroline County for 88 years. For most of Annie Mae's upbringing she was raised under the watchful eye and guidance of her grandmother Beulah Washington. Growing up among Beulah's younger children fostered very special and extremely strong lifelong bonds to her many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Annie Mae was united in marriage at the age of 18 to Clarence Wright of Woodford on December 16, 1947. Clarence built a house for his bride Annie Mae in Woodford and they made their home there. After the untimely death of her mother Annie, Annie Mae and Clarence had one child. Clarence and Annie Mae were blessed to have 37 years together until his sudden passing in 1984.

Annie Mae was a member of the St. John Baptist Church for many years, having accepted Christ as her savior and being baptized at a young age. She would often go and sit with people who were ill and needed looking after in their homes.

Annie Mae was an assembler at the Keller Factory for many years and retired at the age of 62. She planted a beautiful garden every year in the field outside of her kitchen window. She loved to work hard and tend to her home and garden, even well into her mid-80's after the occasional illness had slowed her a bit. She was determined and unstoppable- a stubborn, hardworking, and a salt-of-the-earth Christian woman.

Annie Mae Wright is survived by her son, Marcus A. Taliaferro, of Salt Lake City, UT, granddaughter, Anna Taliaferro of Mesa, AZ, grandson John Taliaferro of Liberty Hill, TX, three great-grandchildren, three sisters in-law, Bertha Smith, Elizabeth Boone, and Ruth Wright, all of Woodford; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Annie Mae will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery next to her beloved husband Clarence.
