Annie J. "Nunie" Washington of Ruther Glen, Virginia departed this life on May 4, 2022, at the age of 81.  She was born to the late Scott and Mozelle Pierce on November 11, 1940.

She married the late Robert N. Washington of Cauthornville and to this union, six children were born. Annie was employed by the Caroline County Public School System for more than 25 years before her retirement.

Annie enjoyed cooking large meals and baking goods for the holidays, and everyone had their favorites from her kitchen.  She also had an affection for hummingbirds and loved working in her flower garden. She was always selfless in providing and making sacrifices for her six children and everyone that she knew.  Annie was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.

Annie was preceded in death by two sisters: Neressia Eades and Lucille Griggs; four brothers: Robert Pierce, William Pierce, Thomas Pierce, and Lacy Pierce and two grandsons.

Annie leaves cherished memories to four daughters; Sandra E. Washington, Lisa C. Holmes, Cathy L. Washington, and Charlene Washington; two sons;  Anthony Washington and Dennis T. Washington; three grandsons, three great grandchildren; one sister, Frances Brown and one brother, Richard Pierce; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery, 21795 Mattaponi Trail, Milford, Virginia 22514.

Due to COVID-19 a mask or face covering will be required.
