Annabelle O. Bynum, 90, of Ruther Glen, Va. entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 20th at MCV/VCU Medical Center in Richmond.

Annabelle Smith Bynum daughter of the late Lena and Freddie Lee Smith was born June 2,1923 in Caroline County.

One of nine siblings,Annabelle was preceded in death by her sister Ethel,brothers Robert Lee, Alvin, Joe and Simon brothers-in-law Willie and Leroy.

Annabelle married Cleotha Lewis and from that union one child was born Betty Ann. She later moved to Philadelpha taking her loving sister Ruth, who she raised as a daughter. Annabelle later moved to Washington,D.C. where she married Theodore Bynum and went to work for the State Department and later FDIC for many years until her retirement. After retiring she returned to Caroline County with her loving daughter and great-grandson. She decided to come out of retirement and work as a nurses assistant for the Caroline County School System for 10 years.

She returned to her home church, Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served as a devoted and faithful servant.

Annabelle leaves to cherish her memory;daughter Betty Ann Moore; granddaughter Andrea Moore-Jones (Eddie);great-grandson Beandon T. Hooker(Rolanda);great-great grandchildren Brittnay, Brendon, Aidan and Jacob;sisters Ruth Wiley (Wendell); Lillie Banks and Audrey Banks;sisters-in-law Lucille Brown and Dorothy Brown; a loving and care-giving nephew Tyrone Brown; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Special friend Pat Johnson;and a loving little friend Eve Noel Sturdivant,along with a lifetime worth of friends.

Visitation will be Friday, June 28, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike,Bowling Green, Virginia 22427,and one hour before the service at the Church on Saturday.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 18562 Countyline Church Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
