Obituary

Andrew J. Washington was born April 13, 1945 in Stafford Virginia to the late Alice V. Washington. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Andrew was educated in the Stafford County Schools. He worked for the Spotsylvania County School System and McLane Mid Atlantic of Fredericksburg, Virginia for over 15 years until his retirement.

He loved watching his classic western shows and professional wrestling.  He was also a diehard Washington Redskins fan.  Andrew joined Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. C. E. Williams and continued active participation under the leadership of the current pastor, Rev. Carroll Jackson.  He was an active member in the Brotherhood Ministry and enjoyed attending Choir Day at the area churches. He was such a loving, caring, and giving person.

He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Washington, sister Fannie Washington-Coleman and granddaughter Sha'Miyah Vicks.

Andrew leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son Marvin Washington (Linda); two granddaughters, Anne (Ty'Lee), Whitney (Shameal); eight great grandchildren; his long-time companion Yvonne Baker Walker and her son Andre Walker (Tiffany); two brothers, Charles Washington (Dorothy), Stansbury Washington (Lillian); two brother-in-laws ,Stanley Walker (Brenda), Elwood Walker (Virginia) a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, also a special friend, John Johnson.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7187 Macedonia Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.

Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the church with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery on Claiborne Crossing Road.
