Deacon Andrew Franklin Anderson, Sr., 78, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 7, 2014, at his residence in Ruther Glen, Virginia.
He was born September 11, 1935, in Caroline County, Virginia, to the late Walter and Annie B. Anderson.
He was united in holy matrimony to Magdalene Foxx, August 31, 1957, and to this union they were blessed with five children.
Deacon Anderson received his education in Caroline County Public Schools. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Reedy Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He was ordained as a deacon in 1974 under the leadership of the late Rev. J. L. Hobson.
He retired in 1998 from Miller and Smith Construction Company after 32 years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Magdalene of fifty-six years; five children, Ernestine, Andrew, Jr., (Connie), James (Laverne), Karl and Marvin Anderson; six grandchildren, Jemiah Jeter, Corey, Sa-de', Deja, Brandon Deyo and Shadeja Anderson, three great grandchildren, Shamiah Jeter, Justin Hill and Avian Anderson; one sister, Blance Anderson; six sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Friday, February 14, at Reedy Baptist Church, 15076 Dry Bridge Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 31220 Old Dawn Road, Hanover, Virginia 23069. Interment will follow at Reedy Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
