Obituary

Andre' Michel Golden, (affectionately known as 'Dre' or 'Goldie') 58, was born in Fredericksburg, VA, on March 20, 1962. He was the third of four children born to the late James N. Golden and Beatrice D. Golden. Suddenly, on Friday, November 6, 2020, his earthly journey was completed and he slipped away at his Norfolk, VA home to answer the call of his Heavenly Father.

Andre' was educated in the D.C. Public Schools system having graduated from Anacostia Senior High School in 1980. One of his first jobs was Chesapeake Seafood House in New Carrollton, MD. This is where he met and shortly thereafter, married his first wife, the late Matilda A. Golden, on August 24, 1985, from this union his only two children were born. Later in life he married Diane Golden and then late Marion Golden.

Andre' held several positions at multiple places of employment. His most recent employer at the time of his passing was Townscapes Landscaping Company in Virginia Beach, VA.

He spent more than 35 years in the DMV area before returning to Bowling Green, VA., in the early 2000's. Andre' joined St. John Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, VA, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and served on the Deacon Ministry.

Andre' was devoted to family. He was happiest when surrounded by his adoring family and friends. He was most proud of his daughters and grandsons, ensuring everyone he met knew about them and his love for them. He loved showing off his cooking skills, eating crabs and watching his favorite professional football team, the Washington Redskins (although they usually lost). He was a big jokester and could always be counted on to tell a funny story or joke; even when speaking during Sunday service. Although, he was faced with troubling times, his faith in God never waivered. In the midst of his own pain, he would always find a way to brighten someone else's day. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with. Andre' would say he's never met a stranger, just a friend that he hasn't spoken to yet. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off of his back, always incredibly generous with his time. Andre's physical life may not be here with us today, but his spirit will live in us forever.

Andre' was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beatrice Golden and brother, Gregory "Theddy" Golden.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories two daughters; Andrea Wimbush and Ashley Golden; two grandsons, Amir and Amare Wimbush; two sisters, Linda Logan and Tina Chubbs; two nephews, Keith Golden (Lela) and Corey Chubbs; two great-nieces Kela and Lola Golden; son-in-law, Anthony Wimbush; brother-in-law, Edward "Eddie" Chubbs; godmother, Virginia Latney; devoted friends, Josh Jackson and Melissa Whitaker and a host of other relatives and friends.
