Rev. Alma Rosa Dabney, 76, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Alma was born on November 15, 1936, to the late Early and Hattie Powell of Amelia County, Virginia.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Manassa Hill Baptist Church. She graduated from Russell Grove High School in Amelia County, Virginia.

She is survived by six children, John Henry Dabney, Jr. (Jane) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Larry Dabney of Memphis, Tennessee, Renee Hill (Wade) of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Michael Dabney, Sr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Wanda Dabney of Glen Allen, Virginia and Rev. Charles Dabney (Lavonya) of Glen Allen, Virginia; two daughters-in-law, LaDeva Dabney of Glen Allen, Virginia and Stacy Dabney; three sisters Mary Mann (Thomas) of Cleveland, Ohio, Frances Belk of Cleveland, Ohio, Florence Priestley (Nate) of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Florine Montague (Tyrone) of Stafford, Virginia, and Geneva Jackson of Wilmington, Delaware; one brother-in-law, Earl Dabney (Zenobia) of King and Queen, Virginia; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Alma was preceded in death by the love of her life, John Henry Dabney, Sr.; two sons, James Henry Dabney and Robert Dabney; and two brothers, Early Friend and Joseph Friend.

A viewing will be hald from noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 21, at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 17065 Seal Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
