Alfred R. "Puddin" Carter, of Milford, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Henrico Doctor's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Alfred was the son of the late Alfred Broaddus Carter and Annie Pearl Woolfolk Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Doris R. Carter; one daughter, Roxanne and her husband Arion Kirven, Sr. of Dumfries, Virginia; two grandchildren, Autumn and Arion Kirven, Jr.; five sisters, Annie Anderson, Helen Johnson, Ruth Wilson, Bertha Coleman, and Ella Dudley; two sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with the Pastor, Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 5, from noon to 8:00 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church with the family receiving friends from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
