Albert "Bernard" Howard, 92, departed this life at home in Woodford, Virginia, with his wife by his side on Monday, June 9, 2009.

Bernard was born September 6, 1916, in Caroline County to the late Ollie and Genie Howard.

Bernard leaves to inherit his legacy of faith and precious memories, his loving wife, Emma; ten children, Laura, James, Gerri and her husband Jerome, Vanessa, Gail and her husband, Michael, John, Keith and his wife Candi, Suzzette, Jeffrey and Denise; fourteen grandchildren, Kenneth, Karen, Eric, Leah, Chantal, Danielle, Deaven, Stephanie, Vanessa, Yolanda, John, Jr., Terry, Anthony and Alexis; thirteen great grandchildren, Victoria, Kendall, Kristopher, Kelli, Ravon, Javonte, Blair, Jehnaya, Luis, Caleb, Tori, John III and Gabrielle; one god daughter, Mary and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son James M., one great granddaughter, Zhane, one grandson, Keith and a son-in-law, Calbert.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 14 from noon to 4 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia. A christian wake will be held at First Baptist Church, 9262 Guinea Station Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Monday, June 15 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Carl Bentley delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
